The scenic artist is an integral figure in the creation of and contribution to effective set design. To transform a set into something that is entirely unique, a combination of honing your creative eye with experience is vital when considering all aspects of the stage setting; textures, colours, time period, painting illusion and sculpture. In choosing the right surfaces and tones, the scenic artist helps the light designer to create many different types of mood and special effect. With all of this considered, I always enjoy taking part in both the process of painting my own pieces as well as working as a scenic artist for films and performances.
